Kaiju Box Battle!

FBWeekly Presents...
The First Kaiju Box Battle Online Contest!
Entries due by April 11th at 11:59 PM.

How to Enter the Contest:
Step 1) Film a your best trick on a single grindbox obstacle (ledge, box, book, etc.)
Step 2) Show the trick in real-time and in slow-motion in the video.
Step 3) Pay the $1 entrance fee to mangkyosharingan@aol.com using Paypal. (Be sure to include your name!)
Step 4) Email your entry to fbweekly@gmail.com (be sure to include the link to the video, as well as your name).

Rules:
- Single Trick/Combo on a Grindbox.
- One trick per entry. Multiple tricks will result in disqualification.
- Only tricks performed on a single box obstacle will be allowed.
- Multiple obstacles will result in disqualification.
- Tricks must be shown twice. Once in real-time. Then once in slowmotion.

Berlinwood Crisis

Recently, I am sure that many of you have been aware of the difficulty of acquiring Berlinwood fingerboards. I encourage you to read Substance Wheel owner Jerome Verony's account of the situation here.

I am shocked to see that this happened to Timo, the owner of Berlinwood, after all he has done for the fingerboard community. Luckily, there are great people who support Timo and Berlinwood, like BlackRiver Ramps, and they will be back soon!

Review: Berlinwood Regular

Berlinwood Regular w/ Nollie Metal Wheels

Appearance: The deck looks absolutely amazing. The lacquer was done perfectly smooth. All the holes in the deck were aligned perfectly to Tech Deck trucks, so I had no issue there. The sides of the board were well sanded as well. The alternating plies look cool, and the graphic I thought looks great as well. There were no visible defects in my deck, even the holes were sanded well. It’s hard not to give a Berlinwood a perfect score in the looks department. Grade: 4.0 / 4.0

Performance: My personal preference is griptape for fingerboarding, however, on this deck I probably would make an exception. Having a flat deck with griptape makes it a bit harder to pop tricks higher. Nonetheless, the board performs very well. It has a very crisp, solid pop and has yet to wear out. For griptape diehards like me, I’d probably get a Berlinwood Deep, because griptape + no concave makes tricks kind of difficult. All in all, the Berlinwood Regular is very durable deck that will last a long time with consistent performance. I’d recommend it to anyone who does not like too much concave in their deck, or is looking for a change from their Wide/Deep decks. There isn’t much a fingerboarder could ask for…except… maybe another BerlinWood! Grade: 5.5 / 6

Overall, I felt that the BerlinWood Regular was a very solid deck. However, next time I would use Rip Tape or FBS Smooth Tape instead of Griptape.

FFI Rail Jam #2 starts in 1 day!!! Last year's Rail Jam turned out to be a great success, and from the looks of things this year will be even better. FFI Rail Jam #1 had contestants participate from a wide-range of locations including Germany, US, UK, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, Brazil, Poland, and that's just the contestants I could remember off the top of my head! With enough prizes for the top 15 finishers, this years Rail Jam will not only be larger, but also more widespread! I am sure there will be some amazing entries. Start filming!

Mike Schneider announced the official date for Rendezvous 4. Head on over to Andover, Massachusetts July 12th if you want to attend the biggest gathering of fingerboarders in the United States!
