Flaki FB Artwork

This is something very special. I´ve allways considered skateboarding and fingerboarding to be some kind of an artform. Every fingerboarder has his own style and tricks and i have always
been stunned by the creativity in this sport.
Some people put their energy into crazy freestylemoves, some build innovative barriers, and some people tune their FB-equipment or redesign boards. OUTPUT is the keyword.

One of the most inspiring persons and OUTPUT-multitalents is one of my best friends: Dennie Flagmeyer.
Everyone only calls him Flaki. He was Shortwood, he is into making music, he has mad graffiti
skills, he is founder of NWDC, he is one of a kind partyanimal and he has such a good sense of
humor.
He is always into new projects, his first album will hit the streets soon and i forgot to say, that i like his style of fingerboarding.
Flaki just got on Substance wheels a few weeks ago and some might have seen the special engraved BW edition in the flatface-webshop last week.
I myself am happy to have two of these unique engraved boards in my collction, they are among my fav. treasures. I know Flaki made a lot of these unique engravings over the last two years and he told me, he took pictures of most of the boards.
I simply had to ask him for the pictures to show them here.
Flaki is such a nice guy and i am proud we are friends.
Shortwood might be dead but Flaki is back producing small amounts of boards from time to time.
The best thing about these boards are the intention behind: i am 100% sure every single board is Flaki´s way of art-expression.
Check out the designs and get inspired...

Homewood and No Comply

Got some news from two of the most dedicated companies in the fingerboard industry!

No Comply has had some team changes over the past week. Andrew King has left the No Comply deck team. Justin Rodriguez is now on the No Comply wheel team, and Taylor Allocco to the Short Bus developmental team. I really like the idea of having a developmental team, which is to help support nice kids who have good attitudes even though they might not be the most skilled fingerboarders. Congratulations to Justin and Taylor on their new sponsors!

I'd keep an eye out on Homewood if I were you over the next few weeks! New Pro Model deck graphics, new print system for graphics (screen printing or heat transfer maybe ^_^??), Homewood Beanies, and CNC Milled decks are all planned to be released in the near future. Justin is one hard working man :D

Chris Deso's FastFingers 12 Writeup

Here's an event writeup I got from Chris Deso covering his time at the Fast Fingers 12 competition in Germany. It was really fun to read ^_^

"We got to the airport in Boston and we f'b'd and got pizza.

After we got and the plane and it was 7 hours of hell for me. I had a horrible stomachache and had liquid diarrhea on the plane. I felt pretty sick. So I pretty much just slept the wole way.

After we landed in Madrid Spain we filmed a fb mini on this one marble bank which was really sick. I also felt a lot better which was great.

So after we got on our final plane for the day and I slept the whole way to Munich, which was amazing because I finally felt better and I could relax.

Then we arrived at the airport and we got our rental car. There were people filming a commercial for a certain rental car service and Doug might be in the background because he kept walking by. After we got our car we made the 3-hour trip to schwarzenbach!!!!!

The trip there was the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen, it really makes me hate the urban area I live in.

When we arrived at BRR we got a tour of the office and saw all the new products and ramps coming soon. Get ready for it because you will be amazed. After that we went to the event room and checked out all the parks and seshed the new park early.

After that we went to Martin and Denise’s house and dropped off our stuff there because that is where we stayed. Their house is really nice and they were very generous for letting us stay there. Their house was also a 3-minute walk from their which was very convenient.

After we went back to the event area to fb and film. We fingerboarded for a few hours and then we went to the bowl and had an awesome skate session. At the bowl, which was only a few meters from the event area, there were also some of their old parks that were in Pissing Fingers 1 and 2, which were really amazing to use amazing.

So after a few more hours of shredding we went and got pizza at this great place not too far from the event with about 20-25 other fingerboarders.

After we got back they premiered Emil's fingaspeak video and fabi's fb documentery called get a life. It covered all of fingerboardings history starting with an interview with Lance Mountain who made the first fingerboards in the 80's

We then shredded till about 3 am and went back to Martin and Denise’s and went to sleep. During the middle of the night Martin's cat Faust grabbed Doug’s shirt and ripped a hole in it and would not let go. Doug the woke up and was going "Chris, Chris help the cat is attacking me" I paid no attention and went back to sleep.

The next day was the actual event which we spent the whole day fingerboarding. We did a good amount of filming and we met a bunch of cool people. The contest was so amazing there were around 130 riders that entered. Almost all the runs were so good that I was stunned for like the whole contest because everyone is so consistent. I don't know all of the people who placed but I do know Timo Kranz won, Doug came in 15th and Mike came in 10th. All of the parks there were so great and had some of the craziest things I have ever seen.

After all of the crazyness Mike, Doug, Andrew, Julian Klein "Kenny" and I went to get pizza at the same place as before and it took us 2 hours to get our food cause there were so many people from the event there. Because of how crowded it was we missed the contest on the Redbull rail on the new park. By the time we got done with dinner we went to the bowl, which was where the after party was at.

The party was so crazy. There were a bunch of bands that were playing like Boris and his band. There was also a DJ and a mosh pit. During the after party we were filming and fingerboarding till about 5. During the party everyone in NWDC crew were really drunk and they were telling us that everyone else in the crew was gay. It was lolz. So at 5 we went back to Martin’s and slept

The next morning we went to the skatepark and skated for a few minutes. Then we went to the BRR office and we went with Elias and we made custom two-toned nm Berlinwoods. After that we went to the shop and while Mike was doing Flatface business I made a custom BRR hoodie and martin gave us all Bonsai obstacles, which was very generous of him. After that we went to this abandoned house down the street where there was a lot of land that was for sale and martin was thinking about buying for fun.

After all of that we went to Flo’s house in Wundsiedel where we fb'd the stone park and skated the mini ramp. Wundsiedel was my favorite part of this trip the piece of land was so beautiful, it overlooked a lake and had a moat and a drawbridge leading into the house. There is also the coolest mini ramp on the roof of the garage for skateboarding and it's so good. It was the best ramp I had skated in my life. On the deck of the mini ramp there were couches and tables. There were also huge rocks that look like they could be made into feature stone parks. After filming a bunch of tricks on the park we all took photos with martin and he showed us the older stone pool, which was so smooth just like the stone park. It makes me sad that we weren't able to stay for longer because I would love to spend at least a day or two there.

So after that mike and his dad left to go celebrate Martin’s Grandmother’s 80th b-day. So Andrew, Doug, Martin Winkler, Elias, Nic and I went to get some more pizza at another Italian restaurant. After that we went to the skatepark again and skated for a while.

After that we went to the black river lake and had a gigantic bonfire that was at least 7 feet tall at times and you couldn't get within 5 feet of it without getting burned. Boris was singing songs and playing the acoustic guitar. Winkler also told us stories about a fly that broke it's legs and went to the hospital or something lol.

After that we went back to the pool and had one last fb and skate sesh. Then at about 2 Martin Winkler showed up and hung out with us.

Then at around 3:00 Mike’s Dad came and we had to leave Germany. We then drove 3 hours to Munich to take a plane to Madrid. At the Madrid airport after checking all of our bags and got situated we seshed the same marble banks and filmed as we did a few days before. We also saw some guy driving one of the luggage carts and he cut a corner too quickly and he spilled some of the luggage in the middle of the road it was pretty funny. A car almost hit one of the suitcases.

During the plane ride to Boston I slept for like 30 minutes during the whole 8-hour trip. Both my phone and my iPod died and I was so bored watched the on flight movie which was bride wars which was so horrible. But yeah so I got back to Mike’s and hung out till my mom got there and I went home.

Thanks to everyone especially Martin and Denise for having us at their house and for everything. The trip was amazing and I will always try and come to the future Fast Fingers contests!"
