Building a Community!

How can we make the fingerboarding scene bigger?

It starts with you. Instead of waiting around for someone else to organize a get together or contest why not take the initiative to get something started? I challenge every single one of you to make something happen.

Look what happened with the Rendezvous.. This year over a 150 people came to it. This would not be possible without Mike Schneider, and his family, who decided to get an event organized! Also, take a look at Josh Toy and his West Coast Rendezvous, and don’t forget Justin Rodriguez and Todd Cuzzort who organized the Huck Jam!

Now I am not advocating each and every one of you to host an event. Save up some money to get a ride to the nearest fingerboarding event to you. I can tell you from experience that it will be worth it. Going to the Rendezvous opened my eyes on fingerboarding. Incase no one noticed, the past two months I haven’t really been involved with the fingerboarding scene, mainly because of a lack of interest. The Rendezvous was the spark I needed to resume my interest in fingerboarding.

I am envious of the opportunity that everyone who fingerboards at this time has. There weren’t any contests when I started to fingerboard, and there definitely was no Rendezvous back then.

Let’s do our best and build upon the fingerboarding scene! Let us share our passion with each other, and with those who have yet to be exposed to it. Yet another sappy inspirational article written by yours truly with <3

Fingerboard Archive!

I'm still trying to organize a post for the Rendzvous, but I would like everyone to check out the Fingerboard Archive blog!

http://fboardarchiv.fb.funpic.de/wordpress/

It's a blog with fingerboarding videos from the past. I spent a good hour checking out the videos and really enjoyed it!
It was amazing to see how many people came to this event all with the shared mutual interest in fingerboarding. The Rendezvous was just a huge eyeopener for me. Prior to this event, I have had little sessions with all my friends at school, and I did meet up with Ian Burke once, but never have I met a large number of people who were into fingerboarding.

Mike Schneider is crazy consistent at fingerboarding when he is in a conversation. He would be in the middle of talking to me and bust out a switch flip f/s feeble, then a kickflip f/s crook, and nail a switch flip nosegrind all in a row lol.

Taylor Rosenbauer is impossible to beat in S.K.A.T.E, as Tim Alexiel and I quickly found out. I would love to see a game of S.K.A.T.E between Taylor, Elias Assmuth, and Dimitry Schlotthauer, as it would be absolutely epic. It was a pleasure to meet Taylor and I can't wait to fingerboard with him in the future.

Chris Deso and Brody Davis rip at skateboarding. Wait until some of the footage is put onto youtube.

Matt Lieber rode his bike from Boston to the Rendezvous because he's super hardcore. His humor in person is as funny as it is online... not very... jk Matt is probably the comedian of the fingerboarding community :D

Dave Deal and I had a great session down in Mike's basement when everyone else was upstairs. We had some great conversations about a variety of subjects. Dave is just f-ing awesome!

Darkwood is a beast at fingerboarding. And he's super hyper. lol. I think he was bouncing off the walls most of the night. Check out his contest runs, sooo good. He had his death lens fell off his camera and almost shattered, but luckily nothing too serious happened lol.

Ben Gordon-Pound contacted me when I mentioned that I was looking for a place to stay on Friday night. On Friday night, I arrived at Ben's house and met his dad John. They were both very hospitable, and James and I had such a great time fingerboarding in his basement. I am really indebted to both of you, and I really appreciate letting me stay with you. If you ever need a place to stay in Seattle let me know :)

Ethan Ebeling is so awesome. Check out his announcing during my contest run and you'll see why haha. We spent about an hour having our own private film session and got some great stuff on tape.

Tim Alexiel and I got Ramen which we had been planning to do for a while ^___^. We got to our plane in time too. I had been looking forward to meeting Tim for a long time, and I had an awesome time hanging out with him.

There's a lot more stuff that happened but I need some time to get my thoughts all organized, as I have only slept about 20 hours the pst 5 days haha.
