Changes

Recently, there have been multiple posts expressing concern over a variety of things including discontent of the direction FBWeekly is going. While I have not been actively posting recently, I can assure you that there are going to be many changes in the near future that will enhance the reader's experience on FBWeekly.

First, I must address the subject matter of posts by people on our comments section. There is no problem with people posting their opinions on FBWeekly in the comments section. In fact, I encourage everyone to do so. The only posts I have deleted are posts that include lewd content or swearing. These types of comments are NOT okay. This blog is frequented by many younger members of the fingerboard community. So please keep the cursing to yourself.

Second, it is acceptable to post any opinions you may have on an issue. I allowed anonymous posting for a reason. Just try to base your post on facts rather than on feelings.

We can all make contributions to the fingerboard scene in order to make it a better experience for all. So let's contribute positively to the scene rather than negative (constructive criticism and expressing concerns are positive contributions to the scene, however fingerpointing, bickering and name-calling is not).

I have been coming to FBWeekly since it has been opened. I have never seen someone be restricted from posting their point of view on a subject.

The post below was a RANT as self titled and he expressed his point of view on things and others commented on the subject only to find out that their view was restricted by the administration.

I won't be coming to FBWeekly anymore for anything and advise the free public to do the same. Berlinwood, Flatface, Yellowood, FBS, Black River Ramps, Winkler, along with other big companies voice their opinions here and when the public which buys the product leaves a message about it or the company it is stricken from the record.

I hope that their are some new companies that come up that are not so commercialized. Phillipe you were respected and loved now you too go commercial. If everyone that is not affiliated with the bigger companies stopped supporting them they would be nothing just like if the people that view this blog stopped coming here it would be nothing.

I would advise administration to choose wisely when it comes to the publics voice. We need to be heard. If it is giving praise to a company for a new product or telling that company the product isn't great and that they are not treating their public fair.

Think about it.

I am glad you shared your opinion Troy. That is the reason I created FBWeekly, so that people could share their opinions with the rest of the fingerboard community. Any posts the I deleted and were locked contained swearing. I never would delete a post that contained a person's opinion.

I know that the blog doesn't give companies equal share of time, and I am currently working on adding a few people that I feel will be good representatives of fingerboarding, that aren't necessarily on one of the larger fingerboards. Furthermore, I will be starting an editorial section so any reader can share their opinions and have their voices heard. I was planning on implementing this feature earlier, but I got distracted by traveling, school etc.

However, I do not believe that the fingerboard companies you mention are too commercial. I hope you will be able to meet the owners of those companies listed because . When I started fingerboarding, the only options for us was A) purchase Tech Decks B) Make your own decks. Now their are literally hundreds of manufacturers of quality fingerboard items, and meetups that anyone can attend. The companies you have listed (plus many others like Arctic, Homewood and Nocomply) have all contributed to these events. I'm sure you can agree that in order for fingerboarding to be successful, fingerboarding needs to be enjoyable for everyone. The best way to do this is through hosting social events.

Thank you for sharing your concern, we will do our best to make the experience better for all.

Hey Troy, of cause everyone is free to express their point of view. And i mean everyone, including the ones falsly accused.
Along with all others we have the same right to express our point of view and when some people start hating with false arguements we have the right to answer back. That is our "freedom of speech and has nothing to do with restriction.

Guess what, the right to express your point of view is NOT a one way thing!!

Everyone is free to like or dislike any products, but that doesn´t give them the right to spread lies.
Some posts (including all the swearing and lies) can´t be categorized as "a point of view" since an other agenda lies behind.

The companies you named are among the companies pushing fingerboarding 24/7 some for 10 years or longer.

Take a look at all the cool stuff they do for fingerboarding , all the sponsored events and everything...

These companies work hard for their succes and they give back to the scene all the time!!
Talking about "big companies" and "commercialized" is inapt.
A wise man once said: "Envy only sees the flowerbed, not the spade!"

The worst thing about this is in most cases like here some people think the flowerbed is bigger than it is in reality!

If you think there is big cash in fingerboarding you are wrong! There is no Eminem or Beyonce to be found here. All you will find, if you chose to take a closer look, is passion for fingerboarding, in most of the companies people are working 10+ hours a day.
With my university degree i could easily find a job paying off 2 or 3 times as much there is to get chosing a job in fingerboarding.
But still you claim we are so commercialized!

It is maybe true some companies are represented more often here than others, how can that be?
Because these companies push fingerboarding, they are creative, they have new ideas and don´t have to rip off techdeck benches and they write articles, take pictures, make websites, edit clips etc.

It really hurts to read your post. We put a great efford in fingerboarding since we are not just producing equipment for the public we are a part of the public.

If you chose not to visit fbweekly anymore it is your choice, "Troy". instead you could have written a fingerboard article about anything you like and send it to us. That would have been an honest try to bring more variety to fbweekly.

Instead you chose a negative approach :-D

Why should people stop coming to the blog and why should they stop buying quality products for the sport they love??

It makes no sense at all.

How do you expect us to write articles about companies and events outside our scope?? What information do you expect us to use?
"Tiger-wood", "copy-wood" and "whatever-wood" they are all responsible to get information out to the scene themselves, it is not our job! :-D When they would contact us with cool pictures or articles chances are good to get the article published.

Do you remember some of my "something else" articles or when i wrote about engraved decks by Flaked Flaki?
Well, i do remember and i also remember a lot of articles from others about events in south america, about cool fingerboard clips and the list goes on.

Still i am willing to put an extra portion of time and efford in writing about even more "neutral" things in fingerboarding in the future.

"We need to be heard" Yes and we do respond!

Happy Fingerboarding! :-D

Don´t hate - create!!!

Hey Troy,

why don´t you start writing emails to McDonalds, Nike, Vans, Adidas, Burgerking, Walmart, Target, MasterFoods, Shell, Exxon, BP, Chevron, Conoco Philips, Total, Toyota, China Petroleum, General Electric, VW, Petrochina, Eni, General Motors, Ford Daimler, Hewlett-Packard, Arcelor-Mittal, At&T, Carrefour, Eon, Gazprom, Valeron Energy, McKesson, NTT, Siemens, Honda Motor, Hitachi, IBM, Nestlé, Verizon, Panasonic, Metro, GDF Suez, Statoil, Petrobras, Samsung Electronics, Nissan Motor, EDF, CVS Caremark, BASF, Lukoil, Deutsche Telekom, Tesco, Enel, Fiat, Kroger, Sony, Telefonics, Cardinal Health, Repsol YPF, Nippon Oil, Home Depot, Deutsche Post, Peugeot, France Télécom, Thyssen Krupp, BMW, Procter&Gamble, Japan Tobacco, Marathon Oil, Toshiba, Nokia, Target, Rosneft Oil, Costco Wholesale, Amerisourceberge, LG, Archer&Daniels, SK Holdings, Toyota Tsusho, Dell, RWE, Mitsubishi, Johnson&Johnson, Tokyo Electric POwer, Vodafone, Saint Gobain, CHina Mobile, Hyundai Motor, EADS, Hon Hain Precision, Mitsui, United Tech., AP Moeller Maersk, Rio Tinto, PTT, Microsoft, Dow Chemical, Seven&I, Boeing, Unilever, Walgreen, Sojitz, Sunoco, Renault, Bunge, United Parcel, Caterpillar, Metco Health.

Those companies are multinational groups who exploit people and sometimes destroy people´s lifes.

Please write emails to them and tell them your opinion.

Don´t blame people who do something great and push fingerboarding forward. Without the companies you listed fingerboarding would probably not the same as it is now. Everybody who has great ideas which don´t harm people should have the right to make a living from it.

No matter if it is Mike, Martin E., Martin W., Timo, Phillipe, Katha or whoever. Those people contribute to the fingerboard scene with good products, great ideas and a lot of positive activities.

To all those who complain: Stop hating, start creating.

Then you have a good chance to be heard by the public.

Kind Regards
Denise

Yeah Chris you should add my company to your website  http://www.maplewoodfingerboards.com thought i would throw that in there while you had mentioned adding some companies. Maplewood is a good company and i am a good person. :)

@ Annonymous when people work as hard as some people do in fingerboarding to make it better for everyone else they aren't going to make everyone happy. Products are put out there for the public if people want to buy them it is fine if they don't they have that option also.

Fingerboarding is supposed to be fun. I think we all should work to keep it that way for everyone.
